Mercury meets Jupiter
The planets Mercury (right) and Jupiter (left) meet in the evening sky on March 14, 2011. First I was a bit annoyed that there were clouds in the wetsern sky, where the two planets were, while the sky was otherwise quite clear. But when I saw the photo, I realized that the clouds do not look bad at all in the image… 🙂

This photo is also featured in the TWAN guest gallery.

Exposure was 2 seconds at ISO 1600, 70mm f/4.0.

Mercury transit 2006 – closer view
The planet Mercury passes in front of the surface of the sun as seen from Earth. The next time this will happen is in May 2016.

Shot afocally with a Powershot A95 through a 4.5" reflecting telescope with a full aperture solar filter installed, 15mm Expanse eyepiece, and 2x Barlow (same setup as most of my moon photos, other than the solar filter).
